Use Your Insecurity as a Compass for Improving Yourself

We’ve all felt insecure. Whether you’re worried about being passed over for a promotion, or just worry that you’re the bore of the party, you can use your insecurity to find out what skills you need to improve.

Insecurity feels awful, but Pick the Brain says it serves an important purpose:

Insecurity is a call to action.

It’s your mind saying HELP! I need more skills!

The skills that insecurity prompts you to develop are either internal skills like accepting yourself, or external skills like developing an expertise.

If you had all the internal and external skills you needed – including the skill of contentment – then you wouldn’t feel insecure.

So if you feel insecure about your job, work to make yourself more valuable to your employer. Remember this whenever you feel insecure about anything so you can ask yourself if your mind just wants you to develop more skills.
