For many of us, the start of a new year is the time to take inventory of all the ways we want to improve upon our current situations. It’s the perfect opportunity to wipe the slate clean, if we need to, and seriously consider the steps we need to take toward having the best year of our lives. It’s so easy to just go though the motions and make a generic resolution, but there is no time like the present to change your tune from ambiguous to action-oriented. Take a look at these 5 ways to get a fresh start and make the most of 2015.

1) Organization

Closet – “It’s so easy accumulate clutter in your closet throughout the year so getting back in touch with your wardrobe is a vital part starting the year fresh, clear and organized”, says Certified Image Consultant & Speaker Laurie Brucker. “How can you start any day fresh when you open up your closet door and are instantly overwhelmed?” Great point! Start the new year by making those tough decisions about what should stay and what should go in your closet. Laurie adds that, “For 2015, it’s a must that we get back to the beginning and clear out the long standing clutter that hides in our closets.  It’s when we remove the clutter in our wardrobes, that we set the stage for removing clutter in our heads and in our lives.”

Home – It’s all too often that tiny messes in our homes wind up getting out of control. Instead of just tossing the things that don’t add any value to our lives, we instead accumulate a collection of junk. It’s time to get rid of it…all of it! Free your living space of anything that causes the look or feel of chaos and then implement some organization systems for the items that remain. Just like with our closets, Laurie’s advice can also be extended to our living spaces. She says, “When you can actually see what you own and love each and every piece truly, that is when you shine, your style shines and your day shines.” I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to shine!

Computer – Is your desktop cluttered with a mess of random files? Yikes! Start by sifting through any loose files and deciding what you still need. Any drag and drops that don’t have a purpose should be trashed. As for everything you deem wise to hold onto, create folders to help you archive. You can then create sub folders to get even more organized and make it easy to find files in the event that you need to pull them up quickly.  Don’t forget to back everything up with either an external hard drive or use an online company like Carbonite.

2) Diet

The Fresh Diet-  In a perfect world, pizza would be just as nutritious as it is delicious. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Fast food is so tempting, especially when you factor in hectic work schedules, shuttling kids to and from extracurriculars, and maybe even trying to squeeze in some semblance of a social life. Preparing meals is a feat in itself, without the added pressure of making sure those meals are perfectly balanced. This year, take some of the stress out of healthy eating with a meal delivery system like The Fresh Diet. This service ensures that you stay on a healthy diet by delivering 3 meals and 2 snacks worth of delicious fresh food direct to your doorstep, every day. According to their website, “The Fresh Diet is more than a diet food delivery service. It’s a state of mind – one that believes in balancing taste and nutrition.” This could be a great solution, even just a few times each month, to get healthy and portion controlled meals without any of the work involved in meal prepping.

Other Options: Paleo Delivers, Paleta, Freshology

Beaming –  Sometimes, the first step to getting on track with your eating habits is to detox your system and hit the reset button on all bad food related habits and addictions. That’s where Beaming comes in. Cultivated by “Organic Entrepreneur” Lisa Odenweller, Beaming offers juice cleanses that can help to give your body a break from some perhaps not so healthy habits and prepare for a new, healthier regimen. The Beaming cleanse is a little different than many traditional cleanses, because they include whole foods as a component. As explained on their website, “At Beaming, we don’t believe in starvation or deprivation programs such as juice-only cleanses, water fasts or powder-based drinks that starve your body of necessary nutrients, calories, protein and fiber. Our cleanses nourish your body with whole foods and juices that you can incorporate into your every day life, setting you up for success long after your cleanse is over.” This could be your golden ticket to a healthier and happier 2015!

3) Fitness Routine

Vowing to work out more is probably the most over-used New Year’s Resolution of all. Sure, it’s a great idea; the health benefits of a regular fitness routine are undeniable. The issue is that for lots of folks, the enthusiasm for working out starts to wane pretty quickly. This year, try to combat this fall off by keeping your fitness routine fun and fresh. Worried about gymtimidation? Check out smaller, specialized workout studios that offer classes targeted to your interests. Here are some options to get your search started:

4) Get Inspired – Conferences To Attend

Everyone can benefit from a meeting of the minds. If you are looking to grow in any avenue of your life, attending a conference could be just the kind of inspirational experience you need to take the next steps toward achieving your goals. Surrounding yourself not only with like-minded individuals, but with high powered go-getters and game changers is a great way to stay motivated to push forward with any goal you’ve set your sights on. Here are a few conferences taking place this year that could be keys to unlocking your potential:

Entrepreneur Magazine’s Growthcon

5) Life Coach

You’re busy being an entrepreneur, managing employees and need to take time to focus on yourself. As Newsweek said, a life coach is part consultant, part motivational speaker, part therapist and part rent-a-friend. Coaches work with managers, entrepreneurs, and just plain folks, helping them define and achieve their goals – career, personal, or most often, both. Life Coach Jean Pollack says that, “Life Coaching helps you to sort and declutter your thoughts and feelings and keep you focused on what you want more of in your life.  When you remove obstacles such as fear  that keep you from staying on track, you will live a more passionate, creative, healthy and prosperous life.” You can book a Skype Session direct with Jean here.  She also offers 15 minute introductory sessions complimentary to make sure she’s a good fit.
